Should I transition to the non-Profit sector?

If you are like me, you are probably concerned about having a positive impact on the world with your daily actions.

You may be driven by social injustice, environmental issues, educational resources, housing, or any other cause that we know could use dedicated and passionate people working on them.

I remember when I was an academic. I would look at non-profit organizations in awe. They were not just discovering things, they were putting their best efforts to work on something meaningful. They were choosing impact over everything else.

However, I was a scientist, and I loved science. I dreamed of one day working for a non-profit organization, but I didn’t want to start from scratch. I wondered whether my skills could translate to the non-profit sector. I wonder how one can make such a transition.

One day, I decided that the time had arrived and that I wanted to give that transition a go. But when I started researching options, I was left with more questions than answers.

I knew very few people who had done that transition, and those who did not share their tips unless you emailed them. There were no resources.

Even more, every time I contacted a career adviser they would tell me that they weren’t sure of how to work with a “highly-qualified” professional. They didn’t know how to handle my CV, or how to turn it into an impact-driven resume.

So a process that could have been smooth took me years of on-and-off effort.

After I landed my first job in the non-profit sector, I was contacted by lots of students and peers in search of tips and advice.

That’s when I realized that they were experiencing the same roadblocks I had been experiencing.

But I now had the knowledge. And I knew I could help. I had to help!

That’s why I created this FREE workbook. You can find it through my website here!
